Baby Shower Advent Calendar

My friend is having a baby girl in December. At her baby shower, I made a baby sock advent calendar. We put little notes in each stocking for the new mommy to open each day of December leading up until Christmas. Then she can keep the sock calendar and use it the next year for her children.

30's Inspired Baby Quilt

My friend is having a baby girl - she picked out the fabrics and I sewed the quilt. It turned out so cute!! And I love the simple design.
I love the back - it is as cute as the front.

Halloween Craft Day

Today we got together and made Halloween luminaries - so fun!
First we mixed white glue and colored craft paint and painted the inside of glass jars.

Then we decorated the outside of the jars with black vinyl Halloween motifs cut on the Cricut....they are starting to look spooky! Then we put candles in them and.......
...turned out the lights! They are so cute and very spooky!!

Whooo La La!

I am redoing my upstairs landing area. I made this little owl quilt to hang on the wall. I am using these colors in the decorating - I love the fabric. The background is actually dark brown, it looks black in the photo. I love how it turned out!

Paint that Kitchen Table!

This is our kitchen table. We bought it when we were first married....15 years ago! The finish has worn off the top and over the years it has turned this yellow/gold color. Time for a new look.

We sanded down the chairs and table. I had lots of helpers!David bought an attachment to his compressor so we could spray paint the table and chairs. First the primer, then the white paint.
We sanded the table top down to the wood and applied a new stain. It looked so pretty all natural.

We applied a mix of 2 stains to get the color we wanted. Then, I distressed the chairs and table legs a touch. We painted several coats of polyurethane on and we were done! It looks like a new kitchen! On one of my favorite blogs, Just a Girl, she commented, "I may never buy new furniture again!" I agree!

David asked if I was going to "display" anything on the table - meaning, are you going to junk it up with a centerpiece. He said, "if it were me, I would have all the counter tops and table tops empty." I then told him, I haven't had a centerpiece on the table since Christmas, it has been all the kids junk they won't put away. As for the counters, I don't "display" anything there either - I need as much working space as I can get!

Strawberry Quilt Finished!

It's finished! I quilted and bound the Strawberry Basket quilt yesterday. I love it!

I don't know if you can see, but I quilted the small squares with daises, swirls in the stripe sections, a whirly pattern in the theme print, and meanders on the border.
On the corner squares, I quilted large strawberries. I was a little nervous at first because it is all free motion and I didn't have a pattern - but I think they came out cute!
I bound it in red and white gingham cut on the bias. The back is red and white gingham as well. Now on to the next project!
